Had the displeasure of renting a property through Kushy Move for 18 months and it was by far and away the worst rental experience my wife and I have ever had. Kushy, the owner, is a nice guy in person but unfortunately has a very rudimentary grasp of tenancy law. The employees he hires are rude and abrasive, with even less knowledge on the subject.

The turnover rate of staff is incredibly high, with seemingly a new assistant every couple of months. Towards the end of the tenanacy they lied repeatedly about what was signed in the tenancy agreement (presumably many tenants fall for this and don't double check) in order to try and extract baseless fees and charges from us. We also found out that they and the landlord had been letting themselves into the property whilst we were not home, without informing us or requesting access.

When confronted on this, Kushy seemed far more concerned with ascertaining how they'd been caught out, and not at all bothered by the fact they'd done something highly illegal. When it came time to return the deposit, we were presented a list of controversial deductions. However rather than attempt to deduct these from the deposit, we were told that our entire deposit was being withheld and that we had to pay these charges directly to Kushy Move before any of our deposit would be released.

This is quite obviously suspicious and not allowed, so we initiated a dispute with DPS who returned the majority of our deposit to us right away. I'd also add that some of these 5-star reviews are hilariously fake. All new accounts with only 1 review total.
